Burn
by John Paul S.Vicente
written on April 2,2008.

DSC03951

She said "I'm sorry for the things I did.",

But the mistakes just kept on piling.

She said "I'll always be right by your side",

But the fact is that she's missing.

She said "I'll always treasure you.",

But she just took me all for granted.

She said "Things between us will never change",

But we're now so separated.

All the promises that she said to me,

Were nothing more than empty.

Everytime that I would reminisce,

My heart would scream in agony.

My fists would hit these walls,

Until their stained in blood.

I've been duped and I've been fooled,

And treated just like mud.

I told myself now "I'm leaving you,",

"And I'll never ever return.".

"I gave my all,yet you left me there,",

"Those memories...I'll let them burn.".

Love through the season
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on August 22, 2007

DSC00865

If love could be described, in the form of seasons,

You will know just what i mean.

From the far complex, to the simple reasons,

Each season describes a scene.

The spring depicts the start of all,

From the death that came from winter.

That's when we met, i start to fall,

In love with you so much deeper.

The summer came and gone in a blink,

The cherished moments seemed blurry.

But it's in our hearts, we let them sink,

And it's in there we see them clearly.

The autumn starts, the fall of leaf,

Just like our love that's falling.

Our hearts in pain, it screams in grief,

From the hurt we're both inflicting.

The winter comes, harsh blizzards and gust,

We both feel the death that came.

Our hearts gone cold and crushed to dust,

Yet our love still remains the same.

If you do believe, that it's love you hold,

You will get by through everything.

You'd face the elements and brace the cold,

And revive your love in spring.

Light
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on May 11, 2007

DSC00631

Darkness is something that we know and fear,

Because there is the absence of light.

For we all fear what we cannot see,

For this reason we tread in fright.

You're all alone, you cry it out,

Hoping someone out there had listened.

But all you hear, is the silent void,

You wait and yet nothing happened.

If I was like that, I would cry too,

But i'd wish for one thing only.

I'd wish that I wasn't all alone,

I wish she was here beside me.

At least, even though it's dark,

I know that i'm not alone.

Cause when i am next to her,

It's close to where i'm home.

The truth is that..we're all alone,

 Just wishing someone might.

Hear us out and be with us,

And forever be our light.

The Sky And The Ground
by John Paul S.Vicente
written on February 20,2006

P1030053

To fully describe, who you are to me.

I used two examples, which you feel and see.

You are the sky, that is vast and infinite.

And I am the ground,a mix of earth, clay and granite.

Without you, there won't be any birds that fly.

There won't be any clouds,to pass the time by.

But, like a human, you have emotion.

And when you unleash them,I feel the commotion.

Sadness in the rain, that falls so endless.

Anger in the winds, that makes the seas restless.

But,there is a reason,why there's the ground.

When the sky shows emotion, they can be easily found.

When you cry,the ground catches every tear you drop.

When you're angry, the ground endures every gust till you stop.

But, here's the saddest fact, that had remained since forever.

The sky and the ground...could never ever be together.

That One Emotion
By John Paul S. Vicente
written on May 13,2006

Picture 12

Alone in bed, I am flooded with questions,

Questions I had about  my frustrating emotions.

So I wrote them down on paper, one by one.

Until my mind told me that there was none.

Among the many, one caught my attention.

And with no surprise, that word was "rejection".

It was that one emotion, which lingers in my fear.

Especially when that person I admire most is near.

She has a smile that can brighten my days,

Her presence alone, sets my heart ablaze.

I want to climb the tallest peaks and shout her name.

But even doing the impossible, things will always be the same.

No matter how hard I try,I'll end up a failure.

Once fate is written, there's no changing for sure.

Yes,rejection it seems is the worse for me.

Because being rejected to me is reality.

My Cry In Vain
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on August 24,2006.

P1050649

for every moment that comes in life,

not one moment comes in double.

cause in the movie that we call life,

second takes aren't that simple.

mistakes are done and people hurt,

for the actions we have taken.

friendships fall and lovers part,

the vows we've held are broken.

it only takes a moment,

for everything to change.

a minute,things are going well,

the next, it's going strange.

how i cry out for consistency,

in our every waking moments.

for each day, we try to build ourselves,

we end up as broken fragments.

sadly enough, my cry in vain,

another change is near.

i'll just clutch my hand and reminisce,

for those one moments, that we held dear.

If and Because....
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on Jan 7,2007.

DSC00475

If you were to live for a hundred days,

I'd want the same, but minus one.

Because I'd rather die ahead of you,

Than live without you when you're gone.

If it means for you to be happy,

Was for me to be sad and frowning.

I'd want to live feeling miserable,

Because it's worth it when you're smiling.

But if you wished on falling stars,

I would tell you, "They're not true."

Last time I made a wish, it failed,

Because I wished for you.

And if I was right next you you,

Please take the time to notice.

Because you said there's someone else,

Now my heart's in broken pieces.

And if you asked me if I'm okay with that,

I'll just nod and I won't cry.

Instead, I'll weep when I'm alone.

Because to you, I told a lie.

I Call Her, "Love"
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on Jan 8, 2007

Her hazel eyes and luscious lips,

With a mix of perfect tan.

Her hips, so tantalizing that,

She can hypnotize a man.

Yet there's more to her, than looks and charms,

That can drive someone so crazy.

Combined with wittyness and brains,

She possesses inner beauty.

Warm and gentle, sweet and kind,

Her compassion, oh so divine.

Any guy who can see that, would think and say,

"I sure wish she was mine.."

It's true she's not perfect and,

She's no angel from above.

But she's someone that's enough for me,

And to me, I call her, "love".

Icarus
by John Paul S. Vicente
written on Jan 11, 2007

Icarus

A man stared into the sky,

As he was holding out his hand.

He asked: "Why can't i hold you,sky,"

"Even if you're great and grand?"

He cried and cried, for it to fall,

But the sky just peered in silence.

People mocked him,as they passed by,

Thinking he was full of nonsense.

Distressed from this, he went back home,

And he worked on a creation.

And when he finished it one day,

He created a solution.

A pair of wings he made from wax,

It was big but felt so light.

With his wings, he flapped and jumped,

And off he took to flight.

Moments later, he was soaring high,

The sky and him were one.

Things were going perfect, till,

He flew too close to the sun.

His wings caught fire and set ablaze,

His wings of wax are melting.

Soon enough, he caught fire,too,

And then, he started falling.

He kept on burning, as he fell,

With hopes that had been shattered.

He fell down hard, burned to dust,

He lost everthing that mattered.

I, for one, is just like him,

With a choice for me to choose.

I chose to hope, but burned and died,

So, I ,too, was just like Icarus
